STEM Concept: Forces and Interactions
Push and Pull
This Storytime STEM-Pack includes all the materials you need to engage kids in a science activity that addresses the concept of force and motion through exploring the phenomenon of pushing and pulling a soccer ball. The activity is launched by reading the popular children's book Maisy Plays Soccer with them, and then exploring how soccer balls behave when they are pushed and pulled. - Detailed instructions (i.e., lesson plan) for the learning activities
- Two size 3 soccer balls (colors may vary), one cone (color may vary)
- One plastic table cloth and black sharpie to draw a Venn Diagram
- 24 photo cards for the sorting activity
- Word wall cards to use in context
- A copy of Maisy Plays Soccer by Lucy Cousins
The entire activity takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. This STEM-Pack is suitable for grades PreK-2.
